Anurag Basu’s ‘Manali’ which follows geetha govindam’s story is a wonderful film. It tells the story of a girl who has lost all sense of respect for her parents but still has faith in herself to be able to bring a worthy child into this world. It is romantic in the best possible way and Basu does a remarkable job of making you care for a character.
Director Shimit Amin takes the story in an emotional direction. Amin successfully brings out the various emotions geetha goes through while trying to juggle the various priorities of her personal and professional life. This movie is well worth the time. Amin takes us into the mindset of a middle-aged woman who has come to a crossroads in her life. The film explores the myriad of emotions that every woman goes through in her middle age – loneliness, desire for children, desire for freedom, and so on.
